Applications for Rhode Island’s pre-K lottery to close

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Applications for Rhode Island’s pre-Kindergarten lottery this year will close Wednesday.

The free program, funded and overseen by the Rhode Island Department of Education, has 2,364 spots available. Those spots fluctuate every year, according to RIDE spokesperson Victor Morente.

Families applying will need:

  • An active email address
  • Working phone number
  • Child’s legal name
  • Child’s Date of Birth — children must turn 4 years old by Sept. 1
  • Child’s address
  • Monthly Household Income

Applications will close at 11:59 p.m., and families will be notified by July 15.
