PROVIDENCE – Police have made two drug arrests following Friday night's Foam Party at the Dunkin Donuts Center.
10 people were transported to the hospital for alcohol related issues, and two for drug issues. One drug was unknown… the other was the popular club drug known as Molly.
College students began gathering at the Dunk when the doors opened for the event at 6pm. The dance party was hosted by Barstool's Blackout Tour.
“Everyone comes to party,” said one club-goer. “Come on, you get drunk you go in,
you dance, there's foam, everyone's wet having a good time that's all it's
about.”
Providence police beefed up their security for the event… they doubled the amount of patrol officers from 7 to 14 and had a number of undercover officers on hand. Staff at the Dunk was also increased to over 40 security officers, as well as 15 EMT's and one physician.
“Some young men and women, they pregame… you know they
drink a beer or two real fast in the car and maybe pop a pill… we can't
control that,” said Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements.
Next month there will be another event at the Dunk with a similar reputation… a paint party. Polo ice tell ABC6 News that there will be increase security at that as well.
