Attempted Providence kidnapping suspect appears in Fall River court
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The man accused of attempting to kidnap a girl in Providence last week was in Fall River court Tuesday morning.
Fall River police arrested 45-year-old Marc Pierre last night after he allegedly attempted to abduct a ten-year-old girl on March 7.
Pierre appeared emotional in court, breaking down as the Fall River judge announced he would be held without bail until he can be extradited back to Rhode Island.
Providence police put out a warrant for Pierre last week, following the attempted kidnapping on Nashua Street.
In court, Pierre waived his rights for extradition, meaning he can be returned to Rhode Island, but became emotional when the judge announced he would be held without bond for now.
“They’re liars,” Pierre said. “They’re going to hold me? For what, man? I just got here.”
The District Attorney’s office cited a criminal history for Pierre, both in Rhode Island and Florida, as reason to keep him in custody ahead of his extradition.
The judge said it should be a quick extradition back to Rhode Island, with a status update hearing set for March 26.
