Attleboro company penalized by EPA for violating chemical safety law

ATTLEBORO, Mass (WLNE) — An Attleboro chemical company was fined $74,914 for violating the Clean Air Act General Duty Clause.

Roberts Chemical Company, Inc. was levied the penalty by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for spilling 5,000 gallons of sulfuric acid from a ruptured transfer hose while a tank railcar was being unloaded.

Roberts Chemical Company is described as one that stores multiple chemicals and is supplied bulk chemicals by tanker truck or railcar.
