Attleboro Fire Department investigating cause of supermarket freezer electrical fire

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — An electrical fire at an Attleboro Stop and Shop store was quickly contained by city fire personnel Wednesday morning.
According to the Attleboro Fire Department, crews responded to the store at 251 Washington Avenue at approximately 7:35 a.m. for a reported fire.
Arriving personnel found the building already evacuated, and store staff said that a light smoke condition was detected in the rear storage area.
Charring and arcing electrical wiring was located inside a freezer unit, and firefighters shut down the power to the affected equipment.
Attleboro fire investigation personnel are still working to determine the exact cause of the incident.
Initial findings indicate that the freezer wiring was the point of the fire’s origin.
There were no injuries in the incident and the store reopened.
