Attleboro mayor calls for residents to observe water use restrictions

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The mayor of Attleboro is urging city residents to observe water conservation restrictions in the face of low rainfall and reservoir levels.

In a statement, Mayor Cathleen Desimone said that Attleboro, on a ten year average Attleboro has received almost a foot less of rainfall since June.

Mayor Desimone also stated that the city’s reservoir levels “are becoming a critical concern.”

Residents and businesses are urged to follow indoor and outdoor water use restrictions, as are city departments.

To conserve water, the Mayor’s office suggested:

  • Only running full dishwasher and laundry loads
  • Wiping dishes instead of rinsing before loading the dishwasher
  • Washing produce with a damp cloth instead of rinsing under the tap
  • Shutting off the water when brushing teeth and shaving
  • Not using the toilet to flush trash, and only flushing when needed
  • If there is a choice to use a low volume flush on the toilet, it should be used
  • Taking shorter showers or not filling the bath to as deep a level when bathing
  • Upgrading fixtures to low flow options when performing plumbing work
