Attleboro police investigate rollover crash that snapped utility pole

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Attleboro Fire Department personnel responded Monday morning to a rollover car crash that occurred after a vehicle struck a utility pole, snapping it in half.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:10 a.m. in the area of 866 South Main Street.

Arriving personnel found a car in the roadway on its roof, and the only occupant had self-extricated with help from bystanders.

The driver was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Attleboro Fire Department.

The utility pole was broken in three sections and efforts to remove the pole resulted in a temporary road closure.

National Grid is working to replace the pole and a section of South Main Street remains closed with a detour in place.

The crash remains under investigation by the Attleboro Police Department.
