ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The Attleboro Police Department is asking the public’s help in locating a suspect involved in an attempted robbery at Lucky Lotto convenience store last night.

Police said they responded to the store on Washington Street around 11:50 p.m.

The store clerk told police that the male suspect entered the store, briefly walked around, and exited to retrieve a clear glass beer bottle containing a liquid substance.

When confronted about the beer bottle, the suspect stated that he was there to rob the clerk, and threatened to burn down the store if he was not given any money.

The clerk told police they refused to provide money to the suspect, and the suspect then proceeded to empty the contents of the bottle onto the rug at the threshold of the doorway.

The suspect then used a lighter to ignite the fluid, and ran away.

The ignition of the flammable liquid created a small fire which was extinguished by the clerk.

The suspect was reportedly last seen on Washington Street, running on foot towards the Pawtucket, Rhode Island line.

Police said a search of the area for the suspect was conducted by Attleboro Police patrol units, as well as a K9 from the Massachusetts State Police with negative results.

The suspect was described as a light-skinned male, approximately 6’ to 6’3, of medium build.

The suspect wore a black face mask, and a hooded sweatshirt with a white “Jordan” logo.

The suspect was also wearing black pants with distinctive white markings, black and white sneakers, and was wearing a small black backpack.

This investigation is active and ongoing.
