Attleboro resident to compete in Olympics

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — An Attleboro resident will be competing in the Paris Summer Olympics.

Zuri Ferguson, who will be representing Trinidad and Tobago, will swim the 100-meter back stroke.

Ferguson will be attending the University of Florida (Gainesville) in August of 2025.

She attended Attleboro High School, and swam for their Bluefish Swim Club.

The opening ceremony for the Olympics will begin today at 7:30 p.m. Paris time, 1:30 p.m. EST. 

A two-time Massachusetts state champion, the 17-year-old qualified for the GAMES after a standout performance at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Confederation Championship.

She also won three gold medals in backstroke (50m, 100m, 200m) at the 2024 Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation Championships.

Ferguson also won four golds at the 2024 CARIFTA Championships: 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 4x100m medley relay (bronze in 4x100m freestyle relay).
