Attleboro rink named after A.J. Quetta

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE)- The Premiere rink at The New England Sports Village is now known as “A.J. Quetta Rink.”

A rink that honors the 19-year old North Providence teen who was paralyzed during a game earlier this year where he took a head first tumble into the boards.

The former Bishop Feehan hockey player, now assistant coach, was on the ice Saturday night for the first time since that incident.

A sheet of ice that now bears his name and is now the home to A.J.’s army.

“Now we can have all of the AJ’s Army group together at once now. Actually in real person not just over social media. It’s awesome everyone’s going to get to meet each other. We’re all friends of friends of friends so we’re all going to be having a good time tonight,” Quetta said.

A.J. was joined by his family, friends and former teammates Saturday.

All of them gathering to honor a pillar of the New England hockey community, that’s taught so much to so many.

One of them, was A.J.’s former teammate Thomas Potenza.

“We have problems every single day and those around the world have so many problems but nothing that we have compares what he’s going through right now so if I can get strength from him I can solve anything in my life so we definitely look up to him for that,” Potenza said.

Thought he wishes he could skate on his own ice, A.J. will look on rink side coaching up his guys for many games to come.
