Attleboro to set up emergency water line with Pawtucket amidst water emergency

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has declared a water supply emergency for the city of Attleboro.

Due to the ongoing drought, the city’s surface water supply system is historically low.

The drought is impacting other municipalities across Massachusetts.

Recently, Governor Maura Healey began urging residents across Massachusetts to conserve water.

“We’re doing our best and basically working on ways around this and bringing other water in before it become an essential emergency for firefighting and sanitary use,” said Attleboro Water Superintendent, Kourtney Allen.

The city of Pawtucket is one municipality Attleboro officials have tapped for help with their water supply.

The city has shared information to residents on how they can further conserve water.

Pawtucket Water Supply Board Official Jim Decelles joined ABC6 live to speak on the intergovernmental efforts.
