Attleboro: Water pressure and coloration could be affected by water system tests

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — Attleboro officials are warning South Attleboro residents about potential changes in their home or business water pressure and coloration.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management will be performing tests on the water system up until March 21.

Attleboro officials just finished construction of an emergency water supply inter-connection pump in South Attleboro.

The pump station will enable Attleboro to get drinking water from Pawtucket during declared water supply emergencies.

The pump station testing could result in water pressure or discoloration issues.

South Attleboro residents are also asked to limit the frequency of doing laundry and not to use chlorine bleach because it will make discoloration issues worse.

Attleboro has been dealing with the lasting effects of drought-like conditions last year that led to high water bills, low water quality, and ultimately a severe water shortage stemming from an un-closed valve at Manchester reservoir.

In November, city officials declared a water emergency that they said would remain in effect until may of this year.
