Attorney sentenced in conspiracy to smuggle contraband into Rhode Island federal detention center

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Acting United States Attorney Sara Miron Bloom said that a Massachusetts attorney was sentenced for participating in a conspiracy to smuggle contraband to a detainee housed at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Center in Rhode Island.
51-year-old Theresa Marie DiJoseph was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance analogue, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, and providing a prohibited object to an inmate.
DiJoseph admitted that she conspired with other individuals to smuggle ten papers soaked with K2, a synthetic marijuana, to inmate Shawn Hart in 2023.
The papers were seized from DiJoseph on Dec. 1, 2023, and tested by the FBI.
DiJoseph was arrested in July 2024.
She was sentenced to three years’ probation, with the first six months to be served in home confinement with GPS monitoring, and 100 hours of community service.
