Following the fire that destroyed the Westgate Condominiums in Warwick Wednesday, the Warwick Fire Department has found that there were no outstanding deficiencies or violations in the building, according to the Rhode Island Life Safety Code (RILSC) and Fire Alarm Codes (NFPA 72).

The fire, which broke out in the morning hours of March 11th, destroyed the 38-unit condominium building and left almost 100 residents homeless that night. There were no injuries, though some residents lost pets. Residents are currently being aided by the American Red Cross.

Mayor Avedisian said, “Our top priority continues to be ensuring the well-being of those residents affected by this tragedy. My administration has been working with the American Red Cross to ensure that those who have been displaced have food, lodging and prescription drugs. Additionally, we will be holding an informational meeting to connect residents with additional services.”

Avedisian has announced that there will be an informational meeting for those affected by the fire on Sunday, March 15th, at the ButtonwoodsComminuty Center on West Shore Road. The meeting will start at 11 a.m.
