WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — Former Warwick mayor Scott Avedisian appeared in court Wednesday on charges of leaving the scene of an accident.

Avedisian pleaded not guilty and was released on $1,000 personal recognizance.

He will next appear in court on April 25 for a pre-trial conference.

The incident occurred on March 27 at the McDonald’s on Post Road in Warwick.

Avedisian is alleged to have rear-ended another driver in the drive-thru, told them to pull over to get his insurance information and then drove off.

The initial collision caused the first vehicle hit to rear-end the car in front of it.
