Bag with calf, lamb, rooster heads found in East Greenwich, drawings inside
Police are asking for your help identifying these drawings.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – RISPCA and East Greenwich PD are investigating the recent discovery of a plastic garbage bag with several rooster heads, a lamb head, a kid goat head and a calf’s head inside.
East Greenwich police say they were called to the boat launch near Water Street on February 25, who then turned the investigation over to RISPCA.
Two hand drawn pictures were found inside the bag. Law enforcement is asking for the public’s help if they have knowledge of the significance of these drawings.
Also inside were grains and colored cloth pieces consistent with previous animal sacrifice investigations. RISPCA says this is at least the 12th animal sacrifice they have investigated over the past two years.
This comes less than a month after RISPCA responded to the scene of a cow leg nailed to a tree and a dead chicken in a dress in a wooded area in Rhode Island.
The Humane Society of the United States has previously offered a reward up to $5,000 with information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons involved in these animal sacrifices.
Anyone with knowledge about the significance of these drawings or information about the animal remains recovered are asked to call RISPCA Special Agent Earl Newman at 401-438-8150 x2.
