Public safety officials from Pawtucket and Providence took to the courts Saturday for a little friendly competition. The city police and fire departments participated in the third annual Fairlawn Family Fun Day where they went head–to–head in the "ball for peace" tournament.

The community event promotes peaceful neighborhoods while raising money for autism awareness.

"I feel like everyone has an obligation to be part of a movement and part of making this a better and safer community for all. Giving the kids a different future, leading them in a different direction, changing the mindset of some,” said Melissa Derosa, Executive Director for Knowledge is Power.

The event was sponsored by the knowledge is power organization and promoted by the DARE fund, and city of Pawtucket.
