BARRINGTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Barrington is boosting its minimum wage for town employees effective Friday.

The town’s minimum wage will increase from $12.15 an hour to $15.

The Barrington Town Council passed this measure in December with a vote 4 to 1.

Raising those pay rates is expected to cost taxpayers less than $30,000 per year.

Rhode Island’s minimum wage stands at $12.25, and is on track to increase to $15 by 2025.
