Barstool Sports founder saved by Coast Guard in Nantucket

NANTUCKET, Mass. (WLNE) — The Coast Guard saved Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy on Monday after he said he tried bringing his mom on a boat ride.

In a video shared on X, Portnoy said he didn’t realize he had unhooked his boat from a buoy until until after the boat couldn’t start.

Portnoy said he screamed for help, and also shot a flare gun.

A nearby boater climbed on board to call for help.

“Your boys almost lost Capt. Dave today,” Portnoy said. “Capt. Dave almost was lost to the ocean.”
