Bears Spieth Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week

Providence, R.I. – Freshman guard Steven Spieth (Dallas, TX) was named the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week after scoring a career high 11 points against Niagara last week. He is the third different Brown freshman to earn Ivy Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Spieth has been a mainstay in the Bears' starting lineup and was efficient from the field in scoring 11 points, hitting four of six shots from the field including connecting on his one jumper from the three-point arc. In 36 minutes of play, he also grabbed five rebounds, handed out four assists and blocked a shot in the close loss to the Purple Eagles.
A graduate of Jesuit College Prep, Spieth is averaging 5.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Bears and recently pulled down a career best nine rebounds against Northwestern.
Bears' freshmen Leland King and Norman Hobbie were Ivy League Rookies of the Week earlier in the season.
Brown will be back in action again on Thursday, January 2, hosting cross-state rival Rhode Island at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
