Beisel qualifies for semifinals after winning silver

Hometown girl Elizabeth Beisel recorded the second-fastest time in the 200-meter backstroke this morning, in turn, qualifying for this afternoon's semifinal round.
Beisel, from North Kingstown, finished the race in 2:07.82, less than a second behind Missy Franklin. Franklin, 17, is from Colorado. She is expected to win the gold medal.
The semifinals will start around 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The finals will take place Friday.
Beisel won the silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley this past weekend.
