Berkley man in Florida court for allegedly stealing $20,000 from elderly woman
PALM BEACH, FL (WLNE) — A Massachusetts man is due in Florida court this morning, as he faces seven separate felony cases for allegedly stealing money for unfinished contracting work.
Police say 62-year-old Lal Diegidio stole more than $20,000 from a 79-year-old woman in one of those cases in 2021.
They say he never had a license to do the work, and never finished the jobs he signed up for, making up excuses like an ankle injury and his car breaking down.
When detectives got ahold of him they say Diegidio claimed to be in Ohio for prostate cancer treatment, but was actually in Berkley.
He’s due in court at 9 this morning.
