Bicyclist injured after being hit by car in Fall River

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — A 38-year-old woman was hospitalized this morning after being hit by a car while riding her bike in Fall River. 

According to police, it happened around 6:40 a.m. at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Seventh Street.

Police said that after speaking with witnesses and those involved in the collision, officers discovered that the operator of the car was attempting to turn North onto Seventh Street from Pleasant Street.

Officials said that while doing so, the vehicle allegedly struck the rear tire of the bicycle which was crossing the street in the marked cross walk.

The collision then caused the bicyclist to fall off her bicycle, according to police. 

The bicyclist, a 38-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The operator of the car, a 30-year-old male, was cited at the scene of the accident.
