After a long battle with cancer, Mark Weiner passed away on Tuesday. The former Rhode Island democratic party chair, described by close friends as a man from humble beginnings who was compassionate and generous.

"He rose to meeting with the top leaders of the world. He did so just by the force of his personality and by his perseverance and by his intellect. He was an extraordinary human being," says Providence Chief Municipal Court Judge and Close Friend Frank Caprio.

Caprio plans to speak at the funeral planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday August 2, at Temple Beth El in Providence, where Weiner was a member. Former President Bill Clinton will join him at the service in saying goodbye to a long-time friend.

"We cried together this morning on the news that our good friend Mark Weiner had passed away early this morning. We built up a lifetime of memories,"says Former President Clinton.

Caprio says over the years, Weiner became very active in national democratic politics by raising money and working hard to get democrats elected and it was through those contacts he met Bill Clinton.

"It was not a political relationship. It became a true friendship," adds Caprio.

He brought in millions of dollars over the years for his friends Bill and Hillary Clinton. Holding a fundraiser for them at his home just last year.

"We will miss his generosity. We will miss his smile. We will miss his contributions. We will miss most of all his friendship and his love," Caprio says.
