Billy Andrade and Bill Haas Tied for the Lead After Day 1 of the CVS Health Charity Classic

Local favorite and tournament co-host Billy Andrade is at the top of the leaderboard at the CVS Health Charity Classic at the RICC.

Andrade and Bill Haas combined to shoot 9-under par.

BARRINGTON, R.I. (June 27, 2016) – Two teams sit on top of the leaderboard after Monday’s first round of the 2016 CVS Health Charity Classic. Tournament co-host and native Rhode Islander Billy Andrade and partner Bill Haas, and LPGA star Lexi Thompson and partner Bryson DeChambeau, finished the day at 9-under-par 62. 

These two teams ended the day one stroke ahead of defending champs Jon Curran and Keegan Bradley. 

Hot on their heels at 7-under-par are Jason Bohn and Kevin Kisner. The rest of field posted scores between 6-under-par 65 (three teams) and 3-under-par 68 (three teams).

Closest to the Pin

Adding an exciting element to the tournament’s charitable component, Monday’s closest-to-the-pin contest was won by LPGA superstar Brooke Henderson with 11’2” hole 17, and earned $25,000 for Serve Rhode Island.  

Celebrity Group

The CVS Health Charity Classic is excited to announce that a special celebrity group featuring some of New England’s favorite athletes will tee off amidst the professional golfers on Tuesday, June 28.  Among the group will be retired New England Patriot linebacker and Pro Football Hall of Fame player Andre Tippett, former Red Sox pitcher and knuckleball ace Tim Wakefield and Lady Antebellum guitarist and singer Charles Kelley. They will be playing for charity.
