Biomes Marine Biology Center: New England’s hands-on marine education

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — Biomes Marine Biology Center is New England’s only private marine education facility and the region’s most hands-on aquarium.

Since 1989, it has provided interactive marine biology programs with more than seven touch tanks featuring creatures from Narragansett Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Designed for both school-age children and adults, the center offers an educational experience beyond a typical aquarium visit.

Visitors can see and touch marine animals ranging from small shrimp to baby sharks.

One of the main attractions is Darwin, a 26-year-old African spurred tortoise who freely roams the building and interacts with guests, adding a unique and personal touch to the visit.

Biomes invites people of all ages to learn about marine life in an immersive environment that combines education with hands-on engagement.
