Tyler Hughes is excited to be back in New England and live out his childhood dream job!

Raised in Hampton, New Hampshire, Tyler developed an interest in the weather at an early age and has been giving weather reports since middle school. This led him to Penn State University, where he studied meteorology with a concentration in forecasting and broadcasting. During his time at Penn State, Tyler was a campus tour guide and became the president of the Campus Weather Service, the oldest and largest student-run forecasting organization in the country. He also participated in two storm chases to the Plains to study severe weather!

Tyler’s first “job” in TV was as an intern at WHDH in Boston, but he also brings on-air forecasting experience from stations in Harrisburg, PA and Scranton, PA. His work on-air and off-air work has won awards from the Broadcast Education Association and the Americal Meteorological Society, and he has covered all sorts of weather phenomena including tornadoes and snowstorms.

When he’s not forecasting the weather, Tyler enjoys traveling, spending time outside (no matter the season) and of course, cheering on his Penn State Nittany Lions! He is looking forward to exploring all that Rhode Island has to offer.

You can catch Tyler’s forecasts Monday-Friday from 5-7am on Good Morning Providence, and on our noon newscasts as well. You can also keep up with Tyler on X and Instagram as @tylerhugheswx.
