WARWICK, R.I. — With Thanksgiving behind us, it is the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season.

Black Friday shoppers lined up at their favorite stores in the hunt of great deals.

For those that have never experienced Black Friday, it is not for the faint of heart. A shopper man in line at Best Buy claimed his spot at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

“We got here at 6 a.m., I’m looking at a 19 hour day.”

And he is not alone. Approximately 23% of Americans will venture out at some point during Black Friday to take advantage of these doorbuster deals, but that number is down from last year do to online shopping.

One place that was still packed Friday morning is Toys R Us. There were a few must get toys, but most shoppers seemed to be trying to stock up all at once.

“The hatchables are big, the retro nes is big, but there’s a lot of new stuff out there. Virtual reality, drones, a lot of robotic things this year and there is a lot in every age group. There’s a lot of variety this year which is nice when there’s more than one or two items in any given age category,” said Bob Caserta; Manger of Toys RUs.

If you were heading out for the hatchables or the retro nes, you are likely going to be out of luck. ToysRUs in Warwick is expecting to restock on those next week.

And for those still looking for a deal, now is certainly the time to come down as the crowds are thinning out from Thursday night and before the morning rush.
