Black Lives Matter RI responds to racist stickers found in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston police are investigating after racist and anti-Semitic stickers were found at two spots in the city.

The stickers have since been removed from traffic signs on Garfield Street at the intersection of the bike path and at Whipple and Franklin Avenues.

Police say the stickers are now being forensically tested to trace them back to whoever is responsible, and whoever that is could face charges.

Black Lives Matter Rhode Island PAC told ABC 6 News that whoever posted the messages needs to be held accountable.

“We need to put forth real action plans to make sure individuals who feel like they can spread the message of hate and white supremacy are brought to justice and make sure that wherever they’re learning this from, whether its the internet, or whether this is from a local group in our city and town here in Rhode Island — its stopped,” BLMRIPAC’s president Harrison Tuttle said Monday.

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of on their home surveillance footage is asked to call Cranston police.
