Blackstone police celebrate two officers for saving person trapped in burning vehicle

BLACKSTONE, Mass. (WLNE) — Blackstone police announced Tuesday two officers were commended for saving the life of a person trapped inside a burning vehicle.
Officers Greggory Haynes and Taylor Hanson were given letters of commendation for their commitment to public safety on Nov. 26 at a Blackstone Board of Selectman meeting.
On Oct. 20, Haynes and Hanson were sent to a scene, where they found a vehicle engulfed in flames with a person trapped inside.
The officers immediately went into action and freed the individual from the fire “without hesitation and at great personal risk,” according to Blackstone Police Chief Gregory Gilmore.
They then assisted the individual with medical care.
“We commend Officer Haynes and Officer Taylor for their extraordinary heroism, which prevented a tragic outcome and served as a profound example of dedication and bravery,” Chief Gilmore said.
