Blackstone Police comfort dog ‘expected to make a full recovery’ after he broke his leg exiting car

BLACKSTONE, Mass. (WLNE) — The Blackstone Police Department said its comfort dog is recovering after he broke his leg while on his way to a training session on Aug. 10.
According to the department, police dog Captain and a school resource officer were headed to a training session when Captain broke his leg while getting out of the police car.
The officer took Captain to Foster Hospital for Small Animals where “an excellent surgical team, led by Dr. Vivian Ojeda-Rosenthal, put him back together,” Blackstone police said.
“We’re thankful Captain is expected to make a full recovery,” Blackstone Police Chief Gregory Gilmore said. “The Tufts doctors did an amazing job patching him up. We can’t thank them enough.”
