Blast of winter hits New England drivers

ATTLEBORO, MA (WLNE) –After a mild stretch, winter was back in full force Tuesday.
Snow started in the afternoon and then turning into a messy wintry mix just in time for the evening commute.
“Go slow,” said Treasure Mello of Taunton. “It’s really slushy. And the slush is pulling you right off the road.”
Rhode Island State Police reported 39 crashes and dozens of spin outs between 1 PM Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Some drivers waited it out to avoid the worst.
“I knew it’d be really bad, so that’s why I kind of waiting off a bit,” said Ryan Vandett of Attleboro.
“Waited a bit for it to die down,” said Keith Lacy of North Attleboro. “It got clearer as I moved south.”
But a local Uber driver says he’s actually excited to get out on the road.
“I actually want to take advantage of the conditions that there is, to see if I can make more money driving out here,” said Jessy Suarez of Pawtucket. Plus I love helping people. I know there’s a lot of people stuck trying to get to their houses, trying to get home. And I would love to give them a ride home.”
