Block Island ferry brawl suspect appears in court

WAKEFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A Brockton man was arraigned in Washington County Superior Court for a fight that happened on the Block Island Ferry in June.

Narragansett police arrested a total of seven people after the fight broke out that day, which was captured on video and police body cam footage.

The original call reported 20 to 30 people were actively fighting on the dock, which sent two people to the hospital with injuries.

Two other men were also arrested in connection with the brawl.

Pina was charged with felony assault, resisting arrest, obstructing an officer, and disorderly conduct.

He plead not guilty and his bail was set at $1,000.

He also signed a waiver of extradition and was also issued a no contact order.

A pre-trial court date is set for January 8.
