CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island DMV is reminding drivers that the “Blue Envelope” program has gone into effect.

Blue Envelope improves communication between law enforcement and drivers with autism.

They can be used to communicate any accommodations police may need to make during a traffic stop.

Drivers are able to opt in to the program as it’s not mandatory.
