Board of Elections releases unofficial special election primary results

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Board of Elections released unofficial results for Tuesday’s special election primary.

Currently, the results for the Providence City Council race show Oscar O. Vargas as the apparent winner, with a little over 44 percent of the vote, 379 votes total. Doras M. De Los Santos is behind Vargas with 290 votes.

Vargas will be the only candidate on the special election ballot.

Cassandra Inez received 115 votes, and Santos Javier got 74.

In Pawtucket, this year’s special election is for a City Council seat representing District 5. Clovis C. Gregor is the apparent winner of that election, with 209 votes to Ana P. Soares’ 163 votes.

The special election will be Tuesday, July 6.
