PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Federal Hill nightclub will have to wait to learn its fate after a Board of Licenses meeting was continued until a later date.

Club Seven, located at 114 Spruce Street, was temporarily shut down after 28-year-old Stephen Cabral was killed nearby following a fight at the club.

Police said between 6 and 8 people attacked Cabral around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, beating and stabbing him.

The Providence Board of Licenses postponed a meeting Wednesday to discuss whether or not the club will be allowed to re-open. It will be held sometime next week.

The club will remain closed until the meeting is held.

This is the city’s 7th homicide year-to-date, according to police.

Club Seven was also temporarily closed by the Board of Licenses in May after two people were injured in a shooting in the area.
