Body found in Portsmouth near Pebble Beach

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Portsmouth Police Department said a body was found near Pebble Beach Monday evening.

Police were called around 5:45 p.m. Monday for a report of a dead body in the water near Indian Avenue along the Portsmouth/Middletown line.

Authorities said a man believed to have been fishing in the area was pulled from the water and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the man’s body was transported to McCorrie Beach and the investigation is ongoing.
