Body of missing 7-year-old with autism recovered from Merrimack River

LOWELL, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police announced that a seven-year-old girl with autism who was reported missing Sunday was found dead in the Merrimack River on Monday.

According to police, the girl, identified as Anna, went missing in the area of East Merrimack Street, in the Belvidere section of Lowell.

Officials said Monday that their search teams located her in the river around 12 p.m.

Police in Lowell told WCVB Channel 5 that there does not appear to be any signs of foul play and further investigation will reveal the girl’s cause of death.

No further information was immediately released.
