Autopsy results released for death of missing UNH student, fraternity suspended amid investigation
The chief medical examiner for New Hampshire determined the death was accidental.

DURHAM, N.H. (WLNE)- A University of New Hampshire student was found dead Sunday afternoon, after being reported missing nearly 24 hours earlier.
Saturday around 3 a.m. Durham Police were notified of a missing 22 year-old man identified as Vincenzo ‘Vinny’ Lirosi. Police say he was last seen between 1:00 a.m. and 1:30a.m. Saturday morning.
The chief medical examiner for New Hampshire determined the cause of death was drowning and the death was accidental.
Students say Lirozi was last seen walking home through the woods, a short-cut used by most students to get around campus.
Sunday afternoon, police say the student was found off of Coe Drive, a marshy area near the UNH campus.
The state’s medical examiner is still trying to figure out how he died, but does not appear to be suspicious.
“It is with very heavy hearts that we share the search for Vincenzo Lirosi did not end as we had hoped,” says UNH on their Twitter.
The University of New Hampshire shared in an email with students the following regarding the Sigma Chi Fraternity,
“I also want to acknowledge reports that prior to going missing Vinny was involved in an altercation at a gathering hosted by the members of Sigma Chi Fraternity. As is common practice when an investigation involved a fraternity, we were in touch with the organization’s national headquarters and collectively agreed to interim suspend the organization effective immediately. This decision is not the result of an investigation or a formal finding of responsibility, but it is an important step while Durham Police Department continues its investigation.”
A GoFundMe has been started to help the family pay for a proper funeral, which has already reached over $43,000.
A vigil has been organized by students to remember Lirosi on Monday night.
