Boil water notice issued for Charlestown Commons

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) – The Charlestown Commons in Charlestown is now under a boil water notice because of E.coli bacteria found in the water system, the Department of Health announced Thursday.
The DOH says all water used for cooking or consumption should be boiled vigorously for at least one minute. This includes any water used for brushing teeth, making ice and washing dishes.
Bottled water can be used instead.
Additionally, infants and young children should not be bathed in the water. Adults bathing in the water must be careful not to swallow it.
The boil water order will remain in effect until the source of the bacteria is determined and corrective actions are made. The water system must then collect three consecutive days of samples without the bacteria.
Customers with questions can call Chris Randall at the DOH at 401-364-5021.
