The Bomb Squad was put to work Wednesday morning after a woman went to the West Warwick Police Station asking for help in disposing two inert bombs.
Police say the woman showed up at around 6:30 a.m. asking for assistance in disposing the mortar type devices. She told police the devices were from her father’s home outside of West Warwick as the property was being sold and didn’t know how to dispose of them.
She told police the these devices were in her family home since her childhood and believes her father found them somewhere in the East Bay area.
Police say she left them outside in front of the department. As a precaution, the area was taped off and Main Street was shut down in that area. The Bomb Squad disposed the munitions without incident.
