MIDDLETOWN, R.I (WLNE) – Middletown Police made an arrest linked to bomb threats made towards a Stop & Shop in Middletown on Tuesday.

The Middletown Police department arrest 19-year-old, Middletown resident Jacob Tomkus after an investigation into two bomb threats were called into the Stop & Shop on West Main Road.

The calls were made on November 17th and 18th of 2019, which forced the store to be evacuated on both days, creating a sense of unease for both customers and employees.

The detective division conducted an investigation and produced evidence linked Tomkus to the calls that were made.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was charged with two counts of Bomb threats and Similar False Reports.

Tomkus was arraigned on Tuesday where he did not enter a plea, and his bail was set for $20,000 with surety.
