Boof Returns as PawSox Shutout Gwinnett
PawSox rely on Nava and three arms
Daniel Nava had a home run, double and 4 runs batted in to lead the PawSox to a 6-0 win over Gwinnett on Wednesday night at McCoy. The PawSox have won two in a row, matching their longest streak of 2010. Nava leads the club with 6 homers and 27 rbi, as well as a .313 batting average. Bubba Bell had a single in the second inning that scored the other two Pawtucket runs.
Pawtucket pitching was the other half of the equation. Boof Bonser, Fabio Castro and T.J. Large combined for the second shutout for the Sox this year. Bonser hurled 4 scoreless innings (2 hits), Castro went 4 inings for the win. Castro (2-2) also allowed just 2 hits and Large registered a 1-2-3 ninth. PawSox pitchers have not allowed an earned run in 30 innings.
The series concludes on Thursday at 12:05 p.m. Red Sox outfielder Mike Cameron is scheduled to be in the lineup as he continues his rehab assignment. Cameron was in Boston on Wednesday for evaluation. The pitching matchup features Ryne Reynoso (0-4, 5.52) against Kris Johnson (1-2, 6.95).
