Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial comes to Gillette Stadium

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — The Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial is set up at Gillette Stadium for Veterans Day.
Operation Stand Down Rhode Island partnered with the Kraft Family, New England Patriots Foundation, and Cross Insurance to bring the memorial to Foxborough in observance of Veterans Day to spread awareness of the sacrifices of service members.
An opening ceremony on Friday morning honored New England’s Gold Star Families.
The memorial will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
The display includes the Invisible Scars of War Monument, which honors service members who suffered from post traumatic stress disorder or other illnesses and lost their lives to suicide.

This weekend marks the first time the memorial is displayed outside of Rhode Island, and the first time for Veterans Day.
It’s usually set up at Fort Adams State Park in Newport for Memorial Day observances.
