Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular Cancelled
Moved to a digital salute to Frontline workers

BOSTON, MASS (WLNE) – Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Boston Pops Fire Works Spectacular scheduled for the 4th of July has been canceled.
Instead, The Boston Symphony Orchestra will hold a non-live performance, ‘A Boston Pops Salute to Our Heroes’, which will be available through the radio, television, and digital platforms.
“The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular is one of the City’s most beloved traditions and anticipated annual events. While a live concert and fireworks display are not possible this year due to the ongoing public health crisis, I am so glad that thanks to a host of partners who were determined to carry on this tradition, the show will go on in a new way. I encourage all residents who look forward to Boston’s Independence Day celebrations to embrace this year’s celebration with us, as we mark another moment in our nation’s history,” said Boston Mayor, Martin J. Walsh.
Massachusetts Governor, Charlie Baker expressed how pleased the state is that Boston Pops found a way to share the tradition in a unique way amid the pandemic.
“Each year, the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular unites residents from across the Commonwealth as they celebrate the founding of our nation, and we especially look forward to this year’s tribute honoring our frontline workers,” said Baker.
The salute is set to feature newly created content from the Boston Pops and guest artists, as well as highlights from recent presentations of the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular.
