Boston’s Citgo sign getting location tweak due to nearby project

BOSTON, Mass. (WLNE) — One of Boston’s most recognizable landmarks is being moved.

But only a little bit.

The Citgo sign that reminds Bostonians that they’re in Kenmore Square is being moved to allow for a redevelopment project on Beacon Street.

However, the city made sure to keep the sign and location largely intact.

The 60 foot by 60 foot sign will be raised 30 feet higher, and moved 120 feet eastward to keep the view as close to the original view.

The original Citgo sign was raised in 1940.
