BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WLNE) – The RI Department of Transportation is on the hot seat after a road striping mishap left some Burrillville residents with paint-splattered cars.
Overnight Tuesday, state crews repainted the yellow lines, but by early Wednesday morning the paint wasn’t fully dry, leading many early-morning commuters to drive straight through the mes
According to RIDOT, high humidity this week caused a problem with the drying process, and it took much longer than expected. The excess paint on the roadway, they said, is water-based and will fade with time.
Aggravated Burrillville residents argued any damage done is the state’s responsibility, and someone needs to pay.
RIDOT officials said those whose cars were damaged can file a claim at www.ridot.net/claims.
