Boy stabbed over sneakers in Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Police say a boy was stabbed in Providence on Tuesday evening by a person who wanted his sneakers.
Major David Lapatin says the 15-year-old was stabbed in the back on Sumter Street while running from the assailant who demanded he hand over the shoes.
Officials say the boy was taken to Hasbro Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Providence Police Department says more information on the incident will be available Wednesday morning.
