Boyfriend charged in suspicious death of Rhode Island teen

STOW, Mass. (WLNE) — A Rhode Island teen’s boyfriend was charged in relation to her death in Massachusetts last week.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office said 20-year-old Shane Curry was arrested on assault and battery charges after 17-year-old Nevaeh Goddard was found dead in Stow on April 5.

Officers responding to a residence on Great Road at 4:30 p.m. for a wellness check were impeded by Curry at the door for two hours, according to officials.

When they entered the home, they found Goddard dead inside and took Curry into custody.

Curry was charged with assault and battery on a household or family member and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner planned to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

ABC 6 sister station WCVB in Boston reported that Curry pled not guilty Monday in Concord District Court and was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
