Plane crash on I-195 in Dartmouth closes stretch of highway on both sides

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WLNE) — A fixed-wing plane crashed on the median of I-195 in Dartmouth at approximately 8:15 a.m. Monday, resulting in a fire, according to Massachusetts State Police.
According to state police, the preliminary investigation indicates that the plane might have been attempting to land at New Bedford Regional Airport.
The number of people on board the plane is unknown at this time.

There is also no available information on any possible injuries, according to state police.
There is no indication that the pilot provided the airport with a flight plan.
Massachusetts state troopers responded to the scene along with New Bedford and Fall River police and EMS personnel.
MassDOT has also confirmed the incident, and I-195 westbound in Dartmouth is closed in both directions at exit 22.
